These two days we spent in Neshuya which is approximately 1 hr. and 20 minutes from our hotel. We had a father, daughter, and son visit us after traveling for most of the day. They live deep in the jungle and was unable to get to us the day before because of flooding. They came in desperate need of immediate medical attention. The daughter had been bitten by something (not known) while working the fields with her dad. Infection had set in and tremendous amounts of inflammation was evident. The infection was going up her leg. The doctors gave her antibiotics and asked her to come back tomorrow.
Her brother´s eye was swollen shut. He had an infection too. I´m not sure if it was from a bite or not. It was spreading to his other eye. He was also given antibiotics. His swelling was going down before he left.
Each of these kids came to us without shoes. I can´t imagine not being able to buy my kids shoes. They work the fields each day, taking a risk of bites. I could sense the pain in their eyes and their father´s eyes. Before leaving we bought boots for each of them. They were very greatful.
Unfortunately the family did not come back the next day. I pray that everything will work out for them.

I posted a comment earlier and while I was posting I think you must have removed your "partial" blog, because it told me the post no longer existed and I LOST IT! Ugh.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, love seeing the pics of you guys. (Not loving the snake pic so much, but truthfuly it is not that bad. Just glad it is not a poisonous snake or a really big creepy one). Just so you know, 2 weeks is a REALLY long time. We are ready for you guys to come home.
I cannot believe I missed your call last night. I did not even have a missed call on my screen. Dad and I went to watch Tyler wrestle at the Sectional Finals. Call again before you leave and make sure Morgan is around. Threaten her if you have to. :)
Busy day yesterday. In all, I watched 7 basketball games and Tyler's finals. Bridgette & I hauled the team around so they could catch the 8th grade boys & 7th grade girls games. 7th grade boys are REALLY obnoxious, but totally funny. It is a wonder 7th grade girls are ever interested in them. It's a good thing they are a good lookin' bunch of boys. lol
It just wasn't our day against Wapak yesterday..darn it. We couldn't hang in there in the last quarter. Parker & Jamil made almost all of the points (except like 2 or 4). Ev, and others, took good shots but they just wouldn't fall. I think Luke got a basket right at the end. As much as he doesn't like losing, you know Evan is just disappointed that the season is over. It probably didn't help that you couldn't be there either.
Defiance won and is playing Wapak in the championship game Tuesday night. Cornelius and several of the other parents have asked about you. In fact, Brady's dad is Brandon Williams cousin! They go to the Nazarene church in Napoleon. He was telling me about a mission trip he took to S America about 5 years ago. Said he would do it all over again. Nick & Connor's moms also asked how the trip was going Thursday night.
Gotta go meet everyone for lunch. We are counting down the days on the nmessage board in the laundry room. Stay safe these next few days. Will see you on Thursday. Miss and love you. Me
I LOVE the baptism pictures. They are the best! Morgan is a stinker with that snake, and I could have done without that one. I never know what she might do next!! Just seeing these 2 pictures makes me even more anxious to get all of you home.
